A perfect reflection of a Monastery day – The Gardens of Babylon celebrates the release of its debut release: “The Monastery”
The Gardens of Babylon record label is about to launch! Angel, it’s time to announce a very special project that they have been working on for the past months. Time to enjoy their new imprint. On July 19 they are going to release our first compilation called “The Monastery”. For this album they teamed up with some of their favourite artists to present a perfect reflection of a Monastery day. Expect releases from the biggest talent they so adore to the upcoming stars they wish to admire. The tracks will take you from the morning meditation to the dance in the darkest of night.
trndmsk: What inspired you to produce the track?
VANDER: I started this track about a year ago, actually finished it but never played it and forgot about it until Shishi asked me for track for her new compilation of The Gardens of Babylon. I remember when I started this track I wanted to do something groovy but also something that will stand out. I was experimenting with my VSTs, found the weird groovy dark/minimal sound and kept on going.
The outstanding lead that takes over I found it randomly and immediately fell in love with the sound. It sounded like the cousin of the track of Trikk – Vilara, wich I love. I thought this might be something, then the melody came out of nowhere and I knew I had something special from there. I finished the track the same day I started(80%) of what we can listen now, but then I was not sure about it. I wasn’t confident enough even though I was receiving good feedback.
Where did you record it? And how?
The track is produced in my home studio in Amsterdam. All the sounds are from VSTs. I used Kick 2 for the kick, Diva for the basses and synth sounds, Mini V from Arturia for the lead, Reaktor from Native Instruments for some of the percussions, and some samples that I have for the drums.
How did you get in contact with the record label?
My story with The Gardens of Babylon started around 2 years ago and it’s a very interesting long story, but I’ve been working ever since The Gardens came into my life on this company and when we decided to make a Record Label it was natural for me to make a contribution. I’m very happy and grateful to work with Shishi on The Gardens of Babylon, she’s being my number one supporter. As I say, this track is ours, not mine.
What’s up next after the release? Are you working on any other projects?
After this release and my last single released on Stil Vor Talent’s latest compilation, I’m working now on concluding three EPs. One with the amazing musician and incredible producer Bora Uzer from Turkey & my great friend Mynox, from Pandhora it’s called “Breathe”. Mynox and I are working on another EP called “Ma Petite Fleur”. I’m also working on another EP with my producer partner Lev Tatarov, we are preparing something groovy and special for Crossings which is a label I co-own with my close friends Aymen and Leith. A lot of things are happening, and I’m being involved in a lot of projects that I can’t wait to share it with the world.
