trndmsk Podcast #57 – Oliver Huntemann
Myths abound in the north when it comes to techno ground zero, and they refuse to go away. Oliver Huntemann is one of a handful of children of the north who, for what seems like an eternity, add an element of credence to the mythology. He does not, of course, live in a snowy forest or at the edge of the polar oceans. The sun does, on occasion, shine down on Hamburg. Nevertheless, there is a tendency towards hypothermic reduction in the rigorous efficiency of the Huntemann oeuvre. Images of cold storage warehouses, desolate heavy plant sites and bluish flesh are not entirely misplaced. Shards of German Engineering glimmer in his music, laced with persuasive logic, gruesome Darwinism. What remains: what works. Enjoy trndmsk Podcast #57 – recorded by Oliver Huntemann!
trndmsk: Oliver, what can we look forward to in the next few minutes?
Oliver Huntemann: A short journey, as I picked the beginning of my set building slowly into peak time!
When did you record the set? What surrounded you at the time?
The set was recorded during my set at the fabulous Spartacus Club, Aix En Provence (FR).
How did you choose the tracks for the mix?
I don’t really prepare my sets, I have my mainbox were I skip through during my gig. As you never know what to expect. But it’s kind of like my record bag back in the day, I’ve got my favourite tunes in one folder. And a few label, promo, folders as well.
Do you have a favorite track included in the mix?
“Trickle Down” from Maksim Dark & Joran van Pol – one of two tracks that will be included on our new release series “Kontakt” on my label Senso Sounds.
What three songs do you tend to use in your current sets?
“Trickle Down” from Maksim Dark & Joran van Pol, “The Barbershop 3#” from Architectural and my track with André Winter: “Reeperbahn”.
What are your near future projects?
Senso Sounds is celebrating its 5th year, I’m super busy planing some special events. We have already confirmed two showcases during Off Week, Barcelona, in June and July. Be prepared for a proper birthday rave.
Are you working on any other projects?
Yes indeed, and it has nothing to do with music but with my second passion: food Together with my business partner Paco and my wife, I’m currently working on a Taqueria with authentic Mexican food, right in the heart of Hamburg. Make sure to be on the lookout for Holy Taco
What’s next on your imprint Senso?
Kontakt 02 is coming on the 31th of May the second part of our new release series which represents the collaborative teamwork of two producers.
