“I didn’t want to change too much” – Ribas Abbas remixes Violeta Parra’s original “Y Arriba Quemando El Sol”
trndmsk: What inspired you to make the mix?
Ribas Abbas: I am a big fan of the music of Violeta Parra and there are so many tracks of her that I could remix but “Y Arriba Quemando El Sol” was the one that I could make more my own thing of it. I tried first “Arauco Tiene Una Pena” but whatever I did it sounded too much of the remix of Stimming. I think that is because I heard it that much and loved it so much that I can’t take it out of my mind.
How did you approach the original track?
It was a time consuming task. I had some issues with syncing the track correctly but after a while I got it right. From there it was searching for the correct balance. I didn’t want to change too much because the flute and the guitar are already very nice! But I also didn’t want to change to little because I wanted to make it my own thing. After that my music teacher (IV-IN) helped me to put the cherry on the cake.
Where did you record it? And how?
Why do you want to provide it as a free download?
My main goal is not to make money out of music. I don’t need to be famous. When I make music I make it because it gives me peace in my mind. Also there is nothing better than to share it with like minded people.
What’s up next after the release? Are you working on any other projects?
There are so many tracks/remixes I am working on. My creative mood is in the correct state right now. I should finish more projects before I begin with a new one, but I think every producer has the same problem. But my next project will be with more live instrument and more on the eastern style music.
